Laboratory Technician
DEPARTMENT:
Materials Control Laboratory
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Testing dip tanks, impregnants, production slurries
- Performing laboratory analyses
- Preparation and application of coatings
- Preparation of production materials
- L.O.I.’s on mixes
- Modulus of rupture
- Raw material receiving, identification and sampling
- Sending samples out for outside analysis
- Thermal expansion testing
- Porosity, absorption, and density testing
- Maintain test data run charts and databases
- Additional assignments by Materials Manager
Minimum Job Specifications:
- Demonstrate the ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions
- Demonstrate the ability to use both liquid and dry measuring devices (i.e. scale and graduated cylinder)
- Record-keeping skills
- Ability to use calipers and micrometers
- Maintaining traceability
- A positive attitude
- Great attendance
Organization Relationships:
The Laboratory Technician reports directly to the Materials Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to read instructions and also apply basic mathematical skills
- High School Diploma required.
- Excellent handwriting
